Fall Decorating

I love the Fall. The air gets crisper, routines are back into full swing and yes....I get to decorate with fab Fall colors. I love earth tones; orange, green, brown and yellow. I pull out a bunch of my Fall stuff but I always try and do something different or new. I love using as much vintage items as possible. So my "styling" looks something like this:

I love old toolboxes and this one was perfect. Compartments for old books, pumpkins and a real topiary.

Remember that cool old cupboard I got, it's now all decked out for Fall and Halloween.

I love old clocks. In this setting, I think it is "vintage spooky"

Added a few ravens to my mirrors.

A Fall Wedding

I haven't had a lot of time lately to post on the blog.
One of the things I was working on was a Fall wedding for my sister.
She didn't give us a lot of time and the budget was pretty limited.....

but I think it turned out lovely........


I think it was one of those times my family appreciated all my "stuff".

Can We Keep FALL a Little Longer......and Halloween

Well it happened. Fall is officially over in Utah. It pretty much snowed all day yesterday, we've pulled out the shovels, thrown salt on the ice, dug out all the boots, gloves, hats and snow pants...and I'm feeling a little blue.

I love the Fall. I love the colors, the weather, Halloween, pumpkin pie, sweaters and I especially love decorating for Fall. I have a pretty impressive stash of Fall "stuff" and every year I always buy something to add to it. I was out shopping yesterday and everything is so Christmas.... right after Halloween (and now before) we are plummeted with Christmas. Don't get me wrong, I love Christmas but I still want to hold on to Fall. I mean we still have Thanksgiving right?

In another life I always thought I would love to be a magazine stylist, say for Country Living or Home Companion. Enjoy me amateur attempts at my Fall styling. I got that really cool gold mirror for $10 at DI(thrift store). You can surround yourself with beautiful things without spending a fortune. As always, sending many creative thoughts your way.

October.....it's almost over.

Those of you who know how crazy are lives are, know that October has been unusually crazy. This truly has been a month to remember. These are just some of the highlights:

--Nat designed puppets and opened Stellaluna at the Scera after just doing some amazing puppets for UVU's production of Charlotte's Web. FYI-The Daily Herald did a great story on him in today's paper. If you want to read it go here:

--I opened Mortal Fool's first production which was Frankenstein. I have been rehearsing since August and Nat designed and built a beautiful set.

--The week after Frankenstein opened I went right onto Homecoming Spectacular week. I've been working on that project since March. It was a fabulous, huge show and I spent many 16 hour days at the Marriott Center. But well worth it. I've posted some fabulous pics that Michael Handley (the producer) took.

--We did our primary program (sigh) today and it really was a beautiful meeting. Many of the older children wrote their own talks. They are such an example to me. Totally inspiring.

If you can believe in the middle of all of this.....we took some family photos. I always love to have our family photos done in the fall. It is my favorite time of year. My friend Megan used this photographer and I just loved her work. I booked a session with her and she sent me some previews. I just loved them and wanted to share. I'm hoping to get the rest soon. Needless to say I am looking forward to a restful November and spending time with the dotters.

FALL.....and family pictures

I love this time of year. Some of my favorite colors (orange especially) are abundant and in all their glory during the fall season. The air is crisp and winter is just around the corner. I always love to get pictures done this time of year. We met a friend up here in Traverse Mountain who does wonderful photos and we have used her the last couple of years. Of course having 3 girls I like to coordinate some pretty cute outfits. This year I was inspired to make these cute flower hats. I love hats myself and use to collect quite a few vintage ones. Luckily the girls like to wear hats too! We shot these pictures at a old mill in American Fork that has been turned into an antique store. It was such a fun location and I had many ideas of different shots that I wanted to do. Unfortunately the girls (and Nat) did not want to stay the many hours I would have.:) Oh Well!! I think we were quite successful considering we had a 3 year old among us. The photographer is Robin King, and I highly recommend her. We got a few Christmas card worthy shots.
